That summer of 2015 the band had set out to record their first real record in Mangione’s own home; an old school-building in which he made a DIY recording studio. This rundown squat became an important part of the recording process and sound of the record. The size of the classrooms meant that they could record every instrument live in the same room, something that would never have been possible without this crummy arts and crafts classroom. The concept of recording ‘live’ created a lot of interesting improvisations, which further emphasized the feeling of the songs. The opening track Värav was completely improvised and can be seen as a symbolic gateway, comparable to the meaning of a Torii itself. During this recording process Jilles van Kleef, former frontman of Twin Shades, joined the band and enriched the songs with devious synths, drawing inspiration from Air to Last Ex. Soon after they played shows at critically renowned festivals such as Incubate and Le Guess Who? and their EP ’Submerged’ was released on ‘Purple Noise Record Club’ (cd) and ‘Geertruida’ (cassette) in 2016. Currently working on their debut album for 2017.
