Taking heavy influence from both reggae and jazz musical genres, including the likes of Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson, Miles Davis, George Benson & Bob Marley set him on his path to music production. Swindle was first introduced to a mixing desk & home recording by his older brother and his father, a major influence and mentor began to teach him how to create music using a wide range of different music styles, ghosting the works of the likes of BB King and Quincy Jones.
He then began making and sharing music with his peers, sending material to record labels & DJ’ing at local parties. At 16, a college education would allow him to begin making music, in a fully equipped studio. After successfully setting up his own studio facilities at home he began recording instrumentals CD’s, distributing them in his local area. A local MC ‘Sedman’ came across a copy of Swindle’s productions and asked him to executive producer his debut mix CD ‘The Takeover’, which sold 1,000 units independently. After completing this project, he decided to begin making his own Mix CD, full of his own productions and packed with guest features from some of the Grime scene’s most critically acclaimed artists, the title of the project ‘The 140 Mixtape’. It was at this point that Swindle was introduced to Music producer & engineer Danny C.
The 140 Mixtape, released in Summer 2007 quickly began to flood the airways, gaining much support from the likes of Ras Kwame (Radio One, 1xtra), Tim Westwood (Radio One, 1xtra), DJ Cameo (1xtra) & Logan Sama (Kiss 100). Subsequently, 2 of lead tracks received daytime playlisting on BBC 1xtra and he received best newcomer in the late Touch Magazine, 2007. His reputation caught the attention of former So Solid Crew member rapper/actor Ashley Walters, who signed Swindle to his Management Company.
